Ladies and Gentlemen,

I am delighted to participate in the opening
ceremony of the 6th China International Tea
Expo and address you today through this video
message.
我很高兴受邀出席第六届中国国际茶
博会开幕式，并发表视频致辞。
Recognizing the economic, social and cultural
value of tea, the 74th UN General Assembly on
19 December 2019 endorsed the establishment
of an “International Tea Day” on 21 May.
为弘扬茶的经济、社会和文化价值，
联合国大会第 74届会议于 2019年 12
月 19日通过决议，将 5月 21日定为
“国际茶日”。
China, as one of the main tea-producing
countries, successfully promoted the
establishment of an international agricultural
festival and today we are participating in the 6
th

edition of the China International Tea Expo.
中国是世界主要产茶国之一，积极推
动以茶为媒，促进设立这一重要国际
日。今天我们共同庆祝第六届中国国
际茶博会隆重开幕。
This Expo is an important platform for exchanges
and cooperation between China and the rest of
the world.
本届茶博会为中国与世界各国交流合
作搭建了重要平台。
It not only contributes to the promotion of tea as
a beverage, but also plays an important role in
the development of the global tea industry, and
the promotion of global trade of tea.
茶博会不仅推广饮茶文化，同时也为
推动全球茶产业发展，促进全球茶叶
贸易发挥了重要作用。
In the past 10 years, global tea consumption has
grown at an annual rate of 3.3%, and per capita
tea consumption has increased at an annual rate
of 2.2%.
过去 10 年间，全球茶叶消费量年增长
率达到 3.3%，人均茶叶消费量年增长
率则为 2.2%。
The growth in demand for tea among young
people should be particularly noted.
年轻群体对饮茶的喜好尤其值得关
注。
Consumption has increased significantly in tea-
producing countries,

and developing and emerging economies in East
Asia, Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean
have been driving the growth in tea demand.

Furthermore, in Europe for example green tea as

Many low-income tea-producing countries rely
on tea export revenues to pay for their food
imports, helping individuals and communities
achieve food security and better nutritional
levels.

The development of the tea industry benefits
smallholder farmers and women around the
world, especially in many rural areas, by creating
job opportunities and generating income, which
is crucial to world poverty reduction and
women’s empowerment.

女，对许多农村地区而言尤其意义非

Tea fields are usually located in mountainous and
forest areas.

Therefore, protecting these ecosystems can
ensure the sustainability of tea production
capacity, while maintaining biodiversity and
ecological balance.

确保茶叶生产的可持续发展，同时维

Tea culture has transcended national boundaries
and become a culture shared by people globally
as different tea cultures interact and blend with
one another, making the tea culture even more
diverse and enriched.

富多彩，彼此碰撞，相互交融，各美
其美，美美与共。
This year, the 6th China International Tea Expo
continues to be held in Hangzhou, which is an
important birthplace of the Chinese tea culture.
今年，第六届中国国际茶博会继续在
中国茶文化的重要发源地杭州举办。
The world’s earliest original tea and the world’s
first tea monograph “The Classic of Tea” were
born in Hangzhou.
杭州不仅有着古老的产茶历史，也是
古代首部论茶专著《茶经》的诞生地。
The green tea production technology of
Hangzhou West Lake Longjing and the Jingshan
Tea Ceremony were successfully listed in the
2022 UNESCO Representative List of the
Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
杭州西湖龙井绿茶制作技艺和径山茶
宴于 2022年被联合国教科文组织列入
人类非物质文化遗产代表作名录。
