05 November 2021, Kamuthe Village, Garissa, Kenya - The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) National Livestock Officer Dr. Joseph Mathooko (L) and Communication and Outreach Specialist Resilience Team for Eastern Africa (RTEA) Judith Mulinge (R) talk to Ebla Isaack, 65, at her home. The combined effects of crop and pasture losses caused by desert locust, COVID-19 related mitigation measures, and consecutive below-average rainy seasons have placed communities in the arid and semi-arid lands of Ethiopia, Kenya and Somalia at risk of severe food insecurity and loss of livelihood.
