FAO project: OSRO/SYR/908/KUW - Building resilience of the crisis-affected vulnerable farmers and herders
4 December 2019, Al Hamraa, Hama Governorate, Syria - Syrian farmers receive wheat seed. FAO has distributed wheat seed to the most vulnerable farmers who returned to their villages and lands after being away for about 2 years due to military operations. Kuwait, as a donator, has partnered with the FAO to help Syrian farmers and herders recover, and boost their food security and nutrition. The initial contribution of $3 million will benefit more than 17,000 highly vulnerable people and their extended families in Syria. The desert locust is considered to be the most dangerous of all migratory pest species in the world due to its ability to reproduce rapidly, migrate long distances, and devastate crops.
