Background Information Large-scale investment in Farmer Field Schools in Kenya helps expand farmers’ knowledge and increase their incomes.

Esther and Josphat are both farmers of the Kitui area, in rural Kenya. Both produce food (chicken and honey), but had difficulties scaling up their production and having enough to sell and increase their income.
They both joined a Farmer Field School group in the last months, as part of a World Bank-funded project led by the Kenyan Government to boost productivity and rural inclusive growth.
Discussion and hand-on learning with their peers have allowed them to adopt new practices and sell their products to new markets, increasing their income.

Farmer Field Schools are an FAO flagship tool, promoted in numerous projects designed and implemented with the support of the FAO Investment Centre, such as this one in Kenya.
