Emergency Recovery of the Agriculture Sector and Rehabilitation of Livelihoods in Areas of Bagerhat District Severely Affected by Cyclone Sidr - OSRO/BGD/802/SWI. The overall objective of the Project is to make a significant contribution to the GoB's medium and long-term restoration and rehabilitation programme in the cyclone-affected areas as identified in the FAO/GoB joint Emergency Livelihood Protection and Rehabilitation Programme Appraisal Document. The anticipated impact of this will be a reduction in the long-term vulnerability of the rural population affected by the November 2007 cyclone through the speedy recovery of the agricultural sector (i.e. crops, livestock and fisheries) and thereby reducing the need for protracted food aid assistance. In particular, the Project would target it efforts on the landless households and marginal farmers of the worst affected districts while protecting their assets against future natural disasters (i.e. cyclones, floods and droughts).
