OSRO/TUR/701/HCR Enhanced Resilience through Increased Economic Opportunities for Syrian Refugees and Host Communities
23 March, 2018, Sanliurfa, Turkey - Abdul, graduate of FAO's livestock training, works full-time and lives with his family in the dairy farm, producing milk and cheese. FAO in Turkey is helping job seekers training both Syrian refugees and Turkish workers with the skills that are needed, and helping to get them into highly-skilled jobs in agriculture. Since 2017 FAO has been providing theoretical, practical and on-the-job training to Syrian refugees and unemployed Turkish citizens. Trainees learn about the different stages of the supply chain, from planting, irrigating and harvesting, to processing, packaging and ensuring hygienic practices.
