PHILIPPINES 1960. FAO Projects
The Philippines, 1960 - A plant virologist from the Food and Agriculture Organization is cooperating with the staff of an Experimental Station set up in Guinobatan (Albay) to combat Ӌadang-kadang". Here, he examines the leaves of a young coconut plant to evaluate the effect of insecticides being used to control Ӌadang-kadang".
The Philippine coconut industry is one of the country's most important sources of income. With the assistance of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the Government is fighting a vigorous battle against Ӌadang-kadang", a disease that has already killed some 10 million trees.
