The Philippines, 1960 - Here, a mobile sprayer is being used to spray trees in the Guinobatan (Albay) area, heart of the Ӌadang-kadang" infested zone, where an Experimental Station has been set up to conduct research and combat the disease.
The Philippine coconut industry is one of the country's most important sources of income. With the assistance of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the Government is fighting a vigorous battle against Ӌadang-kadang", a disease that has already killed some 10 million trees.
