29 May 2013, Siaya District, Kenya - An employee at the Equator School for Mentally Handicapped prepares lunch for the 123 students on campus. KARI and FAO started a farm on school land in 2011 as a experimental test site to see if the new technologies would work. In exchange for the use of the school's land, they are given all produce from the four-acre farm.
FAO Project: FMM/GLO/006/MUL - FAO Multi-Partner Programme Support Mechanism (FMM) - Voluntary contributions support to Strategic Objective H: "Improved food security and better nutrition".
Objectives: Strengthening capacities of farmers to adapt to climate change through land and water management.
