Senegal, 2015. Pest control at mango orchard
27 May 2015, Niacrourab, Senegal - Red ants are seen crawling on mango fruits as Malatrap pheromone lures are used in a a mango orchard to prevent and control Bactrocera Dorsalis fly (Asian fruit fly). The Senegalese Department of Vegetable Protection (DPV) is promoting pilot projects to develop means to eradicate the pest, apparently imported into Africa at the beginning of the past decade where a shipment containing samples of the fly arrived in the Kenyan port of Mombasa.
