Background Information
In the Nedjerda valley at El Habibia, an important rice-growing experiment is underway which may eventually make it unnecessary for Tunisia to import rice. The experiment is being carried out with the help of Dr. G. L. Pan, an expert of FAO from China, who has devised a simple method of leaching salt from arable land.
