Background Information
The program is administered under a FISH4ACP program for Sustainable Value chain Development - FISH4ACP, a programme of the Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS) aims at boosting food and nutrition security, economic prosperity and job creation by enhancing the economic, social and environmental sustainability of fisheries and aquaculture value chains in Africa, the Caribbean and the Pacific Region. The programme is being carried out by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and partners with funding from the European Union (EU) and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). The programme primarily focuses on increasing the productivity and competitiveness of twelve fisheries and aquaculture value chains in twelve OACPS member countries, and ensuring that economic improvements go hand in hand with environmental sustainability and social inclusiveness. It pays special attention to small and medium-sized businesses because of their potential to deliver economic and social benefits, particularly for women and youth.
