On December 9, FAO Director-General, QU Dongyu, met with Her Excellency Narumon Pinyosinwat, Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives, Thailand, during the International Soil and Water Forum 2024.

QU then had bilateral meetings with Kubota Osamu, Deputy Assistant Minister at Japan's Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries; Safdar Niazi Shahraki, Deputy Minister for Water Resources of the Islamic Republic of Iran; and Dasho Thinley Namgyel, Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock of Bhutan.

On December 10, FAO Director-General participated in the Second Global Working Conference of FAO Representatives (GWC) in Bangkok.
