During a five-day visit to Thailand, FAO Director-General, QU Dongyu, participated in the International Soil and Water Forum 2024, the Second Global Working Conference (GWC), met with authorities from Thailand, and visited the Globally Important Agricultural Heritage Systems (GIAHS) of Thale Noi wetland pastoral buffalo agro-ecosystem.

On December 9, FAO Director-General, QU Dongyu, met with Her Excellency Narumon Pinyosinwat, Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives, Thailand, during the International Soil and Water Forum 2024.
QU then had bilateral meetings with Kubota Osamu, Deputy Assistant Minister at Japan's Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries; Safdar Niazi Shahraki, Deputy Minister for Water Resources of the Islamic Republic of Iran; and Dasho Thinley Namgyel, Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock of Bhutan.
