Background Information Improvement and Development of Olive Culture in South Lebanon. This project is financed by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and implemented by the Government of Lebanon and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). It aims to rapidly expand olive production and culture; to market more olives and olive oil to meet the growing needs of the consumers; and to increase revenue and improve the lifestyle of the olive producers. FAO has been involved in the recruitment and training of local and international personnel, buying of equipment, and in setting up pilot plots of land and administrative centres.
