8 August 2010, Khulna - Women collecting drinking water from a communal water pump. The area has been flooded ever since Cyclone Aila swept through in May 2009. Bangladesh was recently awarded a USD 50 million grant from the Global Agriculture and Food Security Programme (GAFSP) to increase agricultural productivity and reduce the vulnerability of farmers to drought, floods and tidal waves. FAO received USD 3.7 million of that funding to act as supervising entity for technical assistance.
