Fruit Trees for Haiti - FAO Director-General visit to Haiti.
13 March 2010, Croix des Bouquets - A young student at a local school planting a fruit tree. The FAO Fruit Trees for Haiti initiative aims to provide teachers with a hands-on education tool for children in a country that suffers from some of the worst rates of deforestation in the world. Fruit trees were chosen because, once fully grown, they will also help improve nutrition. Tree planting symbolizes FAO efforts to revitalize agriculture in Haiti.
