ETHIOPIA 1953. Anti-rinderpest vaccination
Ethiopia, 1953 -This photograph shows Dr. Ottosen, FAO veterinarian, and assistants carrying out the post-mortem of a calf which died after a rinderpest virus injection. The calf was deliberately infected with rinderpest and its spleen will be used in the preparation of vaccine. The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) has sent a mission to Ethiopia, to help modernize the country's agriculture and forestry. Working there are experts in crop production, animal production, animal diseases' control, rural welfare, forest development and nutrition
