Turkey, 1971. Production, processing and marketing of fruit and vegetables. Women preparing apricots for canning at the project's Canning Research Institute at Bursa. Equipment (background) was supplied through UNDP/FAO. In order to raise its export of food products, the Turkish Government has been giving high priority to the diversification and improvement of the country's agricultural production and research. FAO has been helping with a UN Development Programme financed project - its largest in Turkey - which involves the establishment of centres for research and training in the production, processing and marketing of fruit and vegetables. Valuable results have been accomplished and the project has been extended to span a seven-year period from 1966 to 1973.
